VCA School Closing - CCOF Relocating

For those of you that attend Calvary of Flint.... we will soon be MOVING to another facility.

Valley Christian Academy (the school we meet in) is CLOSING. Here is the letter the principal of the school sent out this morning:

“Dear Faithful Supporters of Valley Christian Academy:

It is with deeply saddened hearts that the Board of Trustees of Valley Christian Academy must announce our plans to close the school for the 2009/2010 school year.

It is the school’s mission to glorify God in all that we do. Both current and past board members have endeavored to do just that even as the economic condition of the region has deteriorated beyond belief.

Despite heroic efforts by parents, staff and administrators, the declining enrollment and increasing costs of operation have placed the school in a financially paralyzing position. To open the school again would only exacerbate the problem - not help it.

Our prayers continue to be with each family and each student as we all work through God’s plans for our futures.”

While this is sad to us, we are certain that our KING has gone before us in this... it did NOT catch Him off guard. And actually it didn’t really catch us off guard either....We have heard Him leading us to look for another place for some time. So please pray with us for God's direction and leading. For wisdom in making decisions and that His name would be held up for all to see. We will make further announcements as information becomes available.

One last note.... a very important one.... don't miss it.... we are NOT for ANY REASON canceling church.... so we will see you Sunday's and Thursday's at VCA until further notice.

May God get the glory due His Holy name in it all!

Starts at 1pm and is located at the Linden County Park (Clover Beach) in Linden. Lunch is provided (free of charge) and the baptism will follow lunch. Bring the swim suits and sand toys for the kids too as there’s swimming in the lake and plenty of sand for frisbee/football ect...

Who can be baptized? Anyone who believes in the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and desires to announce that to the world openly and publically.... can be. There is no sign up needed, just come on out! Feel free to invite your family and friends to celebrate with us!

What a wonderful time we had with Pastor David Hocking! A true walking Bible! For those of you that could not make it out we have recorded the two session he did here in Flint. The first one is on the supremacy of the Word of God and was taught to the Michigan pastors. The second was taught as a guide to studying the Bible. They are both really, really practical and helpful. May the Lord bless you as you dig into His life-changing WORD!

Winter Camp 2009!

Well, Winter Camp 2009 is over! It was amazing. It was Jesus! Jesus is amazing! :)

We saw MANY kids commit their lives to Jesus Christ for the first time, many that recommitted themselves to Him! Absolutely incredible. We love you Jesus.

We’ve set up a website with the messages, videos and photos for those that could not make it. Spread the word, perhaps the Lord will continue to use this years camp in the lives of many more!!!

He will be sharing some very practical methods, as well as the tools necessary to begin studying the Bible and ENJOYING it.

Calvary Chapel of Flint is Moving!!!!

The Lord is moving the Calvary Chapel of Flint body!!! We are moving to Valley Christian Academy K-12 School. Both Sunday’s and Thursday’s will be held there beginning this Sunday January 25th at 10am. The first Thursday night study will be on January 29th at 7pm.

Calvary Chapel Men's Retreat 2008

That’s right, it’s that time of year again... don’t you love fall? It’s the fall men’s retreat in Lake Ann Michigan. It’s October 23-25. That’s a Thursday evening (8pm) to Saturday around noon. The cost is $110 per man and it includes all meals and lodging. Pastor Don Haskins is this year’s guest speaker.

Cafe' Night - Mark Banks Concert!!!

Hey everyone, join us this Saturday Night (7/19) at 7pm for our Calvary Cafe’ Night. We are bringing in special musical guest Mark Banks from Calvary Chapel of Monterey California. He’s been on tour now for 6 months and we are his last stop. He’ll be performing original music and worship that night beginning at 7pm. He will also be leading worship for us Sunday morning!

VBS - Vacation Bible School

This years Vacation Bible School begins July 14-16 and goes each day from 9:30am -12pm. It will be held at Terry and Diane Tuppers home. Bring your children (3 yrs-11 yrs old) for a “Night at the Biblical History Museum”. The cost is free and snacks are provided.

Well it’s official, we have finally competed the affiliation process with Calvary Chapel!!! The affiliation process was important to us for three simple reasons...

1. People can find us on the main Calvary Chapel website (www.calvarychapel.com)

2. As a Calvary Chapel affiliate, taking the Calvary Chapel name.... people know what they are going to get when they show up to our church. A strong emphasis on teaching the Word of God systematically and thoroughly, the emphasis on the person and work of the Holy Spirit and His influence upon the Church, The Worship of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit within our services.

They know that we are in agreement to the Calvary “disitinctives” and are “on record” as such.

3. The accountability and prayer support it affords us with other Calvary Chapel churches.

It’s a blessing to see it complete!!

First Calvary Cafe Night

Join us for the first Calvary Flint Cafe night on May 30th (Friday Night) at 7pm-? at Jim and Laura Carsons home in Grand Blanc. If you can, please bring a snack type dish, if you cannot don't worry come anyway! There will be live music throughout the night and lots of fun. Children are welcome as well.

2008 Spring Men's Conference!!! *Updated!

*Update: Men's Conference was great!!! We had seven guys attend, and we were all really blessed.

When: April 4th and 5th (Friday evening to Saturday at noon)

Guest Speaker: Sandy Adams, Pastor of Calvary Chapel Stone Mountain

Cost: $50 per man (based on double-occupancy), which includes Friday night lodging and hot breakfast Saturday morning.
Or: $10 to only attend on Saturday

Things to Bring: Your Bible, a hunger for God, your bathing suit (indoor pool and hot tub), bowling ball (if you have one), money for lunch and bowling.

This will be a great time of learning from God’s Word, praise & worship of the Lord and fellowship with brothers in Christ.

2008 Youth Winter Camp

Winter Camp 2008 is here!!!! Join us March 14-16 (Friday to Sunday) at the Lake Ann Camp in Lake Ann Michigan (near Traverse City) for this years Winter Camp. This is for Jr. & Sr. High Youth (Ages 12-18) and the cost is $120 which includes all meals, housing and t-shirt. Pastor Chuck is the guest speaker.

The theme for this years camp is "And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world" - 1 John 4:14

Join us on Thursday nights for what were calling our "foundations study" where for 14 weeks we will be studying the major doctrines of the Christian faith. Topics include: Repentance, Faith, Salvation, Sin, Forgiveness, The Deity of Christ, The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit and more. Materials are provided each week and the class is fairly interactive. THe purpose is to lay a foundation upon which the Lord can build. Come learn the Word with us.

Crown Financial Classes Beginning!!!

Well, here you go... a long time in the making I'll admit... but we finally have a new website that is super easy to maintain and update! For those of you that might care, it's built with CSS, PHP, XHTML and just a "pinch" of flash!!!!

Anyway, techy stuff aside... hopefully the site is just as easy to use and stay current with the latest happenings here at Calvary Chapel Flint.
